The weather in DerbyshirePosted on Wednesday, September 3 2008 by Pat in category General This unpredictable weather we have in England has again tried to put paid to our latest enterprise- but we didnt let it suceed. We have recently aquired 9 acres of lovely pastureland surrounding Offcote Grange and Billys Bothy. Chris decided that almost the whole 9 acres needed to be re-arranged and set to with a hired digger and driver to landscape and create a new road structure - somewhat like the M1, for ourselves and guests. Needless to say it rained and rained and rained and as I look out of the window it is still raining. On the positive side the new grass seeds are sprouting, our newly created vegetable garden looks like a tropical jungle and the fields will soon be yet another feature for our guests to explore. Our lovely walled garden is in the midst of having the dreaded fir trees removed and is being stocked with some beautiful old roses and unusual cottage garden plants. Our guests and other visitors will have the opportunity to meander these lovely open gardens by arrangement. Our guests this week have been undeterred by this mixed weather and have donned thier wet weather shoes and coats. Putting their best foot forward, they have thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air, the views and a lovely warm cottage to return to, a few tipples no doubt helped. Gone is the rain and instead we have a beautiful view of frost covered fields and trees, it looks fabulous. Very cold but a beautiful day to walk and explore the lovely Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. Want to comment on this blog? Fill in the form below!© 2010 Offcote Grange Cottage Holidays
