Jill and Jake
We have a new addition to our family Cocoa a beautiful chocolate donkey and soon to be friend for Jake and Jill, our guests at our Ashbourne Self Catering cottages will have to opportunity to meet and treat them- bring a supply of apples. 17.10.12
Our donkeys are settling in nicely – have escaped just once. They are loving the supply of carrots and apples guests keep feeding them, I think they will have to join me on a post Christmas diet.
The latest additions to our family are Jill and Jake, two delightful 1 year old donkeys. Jake is crossed with a miniature so quite small for a gelding. Both are so cute and were introduced to our guests last week who loved them. So come armed with apples and carrots which they love and have a petting session to be enjoyed by all.

Located in a peaceful rural location in central Derbyshire our self catering cottages have oustanding views and are surrounded by nature and items of interest.We can supply you with the use of paper, paints and pencils for just a small fee per person. If you are here with friends or family and wish to try your hand at painting as an individual or as a group with no pressure other than creative encouragment then please ask for details.
For a taste of a painting holiday in Derbyshire , we have in our garden, overlooking the lake a ‘globe’ for you to peacefully sit in and have a go at painting. Paints are there all year long, just ask and we will ensure you have all you need to create. There are fabulous views, with our expanding family of moorhens on the pond, the guest ducks and heron, with our donkeys peacefully grazing- peace and tranquility in beautiful surroundings.

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday February 2012 – ASHBOURNE SHROVETIDE FOOTBALL – dont miss. Bring you cold weather clothes and enjoy a couple of days amongst thousands taking part at the Shrovetide festivities. From 1.00 to midnight each day or until the first goal is scored.
Accommodation & Walking in Derbyshire and the Peak District
Today was an experience when I sampled the delights of the ‘Trit Trot Trail’ walk organised by Sally Mosely. A delightful short and easy walk of around 3 miles from Castleton along a scenic valley with information on the area provided by Sally, ending up at the Shire Horse Centre at Brough where we all boarded a beautifully presented and comfortable dray pulled by a magnificent pair of black shire horses.
We were then taken along the roads on an hour long very leisurely trip back to Castleton with delicious home made lemon drizzle cake and ginger beer on route. A delight. We are pleased to offer guests at our accommodation either the chance of the Trit Trot Experience or a group adventure around the Castleton area with the Shire Horse experience. Our cottages are beautifully positioned amongst scenic and peaceful surroundings, just edging the Peak District National Park, perfect for walking the many beautiful Derbyshire Dales,or traversing the many walks from or close to the cottages. Update for CHRISTMAS 2020 POSTED 25th November 2020
We are now available to take bookings for the Christmas period of 5 days from the 23rd to the 28th December 2020 in Billys Bothy- following Covid Rules. The 5 day period has been reduced accordingly to £2583 for the 5 nights. There is also an option to hire a 6th annex bedroom at £75 per night giving a total sleeping capacity for up to 16 people. These 16 must comply with the rules given by the government if you need help with this then please ring on o780 8899493 or stay@offcotegrange.com

COVID AND DECEMBER 2020 BOOKINGS – posted 10th November 2020
We are are with everyone else in lockdown, but come December 2nd we should know more of the Governments intentions for December/Christmas and the New Year. It may be that they will remove the lockdown but go back to the rule of 6 depending on how well the public manage to control the spread, or it may be they give a new rule of bigger groups with rules attached during the festive season, or it could be a longer lockdown.
Either way we will be open for business as soon as we possibly can. Keep an eye on our special offers which will be available for smaller groups once we are allowed to reopen. Having just had the Boxing day bloodhounds chase, followed by the Mappleton Bridge Jump on New Years day, we are now looking forward to the famous Royal Shrove Tide Football in Ashbourne which takes place on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday every February. Great fun and a real experience.
