Local Walks
Walking in Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District National Park
Derbyshire is a county of outstanding natural beauty ranging from reasonably flat land with pretty villages some of which are thatched with timber frames in the south through sandstone and limestone villages in the centre and up to mainly limestone villlages and more dramatic terrain with spectacular moorland in the north. Walks can be combined with other activities such as guided walks, visits to the many stately homes or meals and a bevvy in the delightful village pubs. Walking in Derbyshire and the Peak District, can be both leisurely or challenging but will prove unforgettable. Centrally located this beautiful walking county is accessible for all to enjoy.
The mid to northern parts of Derbyshire are well known for the beautiful Derbyshire Dales which are a delight for walkers- each one dramatically different and each with its own charm. The many moorlands with rocky outcrops and fantastic views are spectacular around August when they are covered with heather.
