Winter Breaks in Derbyshire

Christmas is coming and the goose and some of us will be getting fat, with all that lovely Christmas fayre we all love. Why not plan to visit Derbyshire for a winter break after Christmas  to blow away all those cobwebs and unwanted calories with some serious exploring of the myriad of footpaths that are available for walking and cycling in this beautiful county.

From the  Peak District National park with pastureland covered with ancient limestone walls in the north to the rolling agricultural countryside in the south there is something to offer everyone.

Winter in Derbyshire

Try some winter fun on the quad bikes or paint balling at Wildpark Leisure, afterwards return to a cosy luxury cottage with a warming meal prepared for you.

We offer some excellent mid week winter holidays for  groups  able to take advantage of a mid week break in our large luxury Derbyshire cottages.

We have storage for your cycles and for those without Derbyshire has excellent cycle hire centres on the many trails  within the county, Ashbourne and Carsington Water being the closest to our cottages .

Explore the many historical stately homes , such as Chatsworth House private home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire , Kedleston, Sudbury and Hardwick Halls which are all National Trust,  Bolsover Castle and Wingfield Manor which are English Heritage and my favourite the beautiful  and magnificent Haddon Hall . Wonderful places, beautiful settings and great to visit on wet weather days.  All but a short drive from our cottages.

We can offer you the option to have caterers and pampering at the cottages to make your stay special.

A  visit to the Wedgewood museum just outside of Stoke is a great day out, try one of their wonderful afternoon teas on some of the most beautiful pottery you are every likely to eat off- a wonderful place for a wet weather day.

Wrap up warm and come and enjoy the many delights this county and neighbouring Staffordshire have to offer.

Whatever your tastes  summer or winter  Derbyshire has it all.
